About

Want to learn a little more about me? My name is Rebecca Moyer. I’ve been sewing in different forms pretty much all my life. I started at 6, when I learned needlepoint at my grandmothers side. She was a hand quilter who didn’t like to piece! Growing up, I did lots of embroidery and cross stitch with her. As I got a little older, I learned to sew clothing with my mother and took high school sewing classes as well.

About 15 years ago, I learned to piece quilts and I was hooked. I accidentally burned out my hand-me-down sewing machine in my beginner class, invested in a Bernina, and really grew passionate about this art form. I haven’t entered too many shows, but did win a Best Use of Color ribbon from Mancuso in 2017 and Best Longarm Quilting in 2022!

Over time, I learned how to machine quilt on my small domestic machine, but got frustrated at its limitations. I loved being able to add another level of dimension to my quilts through the quilting, but didn’t like how difficult it was to work with a large quilt in such a small machine.

A good friend let me use her longarm machine several years ago and a whole new way of working was opened up to me! I’ve been passionate about getting my own machine and helping others complete their quilts but it was never the right time. And then of course, the Pandemic came and taught everyone that there is never going to be a right time. You just need to do it! I now own an APQS Millie and am excited to help you get your quilts finished so you can keep working on the next project!

When I’m not quilting, I’m usually spending time with my family. I have two kids, Sam and Evan. We find any excuse to spend time outside and can be found hiking, biking, kayaking, and even rock climbing. I also try and make time to swim regularly and do a lot of yoga and reading. Oh, and I can’t forget our pet parrotlet. Her name is Blueberry and she keeps us laughing with her silly behavior. Some may make an appearance on my posts, and some might also be working behind the scenes to help me run Purple Bobbin, but the focus here is always you and your quilts!

I can help if this is your first quilt or your hundredth quilt.
